Police officer talking to a little girl with an A.F. of L. Picket band on her lap. Other men are presumably AFL-Conference of Studio Unions member during their strike against all Hollywood studios. The CSU strike began in March 1945 and was around the six month mark when it turned violent on October 5, 1945, known as Hollywood Black Friday. National exposure of this violence forced negotiations between studios and the CSU. Negotiation ended the strike about a month later, but CSU didn't last much longer and was eventually disbanded and absorbed by rival union IATSE

(left to right) Attorney Joseph Scott, Angelus Temple business manager Giles Knight, Angelus Temple founder and pastor Aimee Semple McPherson, and Rolf Kennedy McPherson, son of Aimee. All are at a trial in which Aimee's daughter Roberta Semple has brought a $150,000 slander suit against Willedd Andrews, attorney for Aimmee McPherson and Angelus Temple. Miss Semple claims that Andrews had made untrue statements about her, including that Semple and her husband Jacob Moidel (former Temple attorney) had kidnapped Aimee and forced her to sign several documents. Joseph Scott acted as attorney for Andrews while Rolf and Aimee McPherson stood as witnesses. Roberta Semple was ultimately offered $2000 in damages. This trial was the latest in a series of tumultuous family relations which began with Aimee's decision to retain Giles Knight as business manager against Roberta's wishes

Private detective Pearl Antibus testifies against millionaire Thomas W. Warner, Sr., Los Angeles, 1938

Description:
Mrs. Antibus sued Mr. Warner after her home was raided by Buron Fitts and several of his deputies at the request of Mr. Warner. The raid of Mrs. Antibus' home was conducted in order to search for Mr. Warner's son, Thomas W. Warner, Jr. Mr. Warner, Jr. was found hiding inside the home with his girlfriend Mrs. Jean MacDonald. The pair had been hiding in the home from Mr. Warner, Sr. who was opposed to their relationship and was seeking to end all contact between the pair. Mrs. Antibus served as a private detective for Mr. Warner, Jr. and had previously conducted an investigation into the life of Mrs. MacDonald in attempt to determine whether she was truly in love with Mr. Warner, Jr. Mrs. Antibus alleged that the raid left several of her visitors injured and was unnecessarily violent.

Mrs. Hazel Belford Glab appears in court to give testimony in her defense on March 16, 1936. Glab was accused of the 1928 murder of her husband, pharmacist John I. Glab. Mrs. Glab had been only recently convicted of forging the will of her late fiancee, wealthy manufacturer Albert Cheney, who died in Las Vegas before the two could be wed. John I. Glab was shot in the home he and Hazel Glab shared, on the evening of June 18, 1928. Mrs. Glab contested that her husband had been shot by her former lover, policeman W. R. McIntyre, and that she had been home listening to the radio with her niece the eve of the murder and had not heard the shot. Glab had been married to the pharmacist for only 16 months.Hazel Glab was convicted of second-degree murder on March 21, 1936.

According to Libaire, her husband believed that people involved in theater should not be married. The two were married on November 28, 1930. Gering directed Libaire in the 1932 film "Madame Butterfly," starring Sylvia Sidney and Cary Grant. Libaire played the part of "Peach Blossom." They separated on January 22, 1936.

Mrs. Antibus sued Mr. Warner Sr. after her home was raided by Buron Fitts and several of his deputies at the request of Mr. Warner. The raid of Mrs. Antibus' home was conducted in order to search for Mr. Warner's son, Thomas W. Warner, Jr. Mr. Warner, Jr. was found hiding inside the home with his girlfriend Mrs. Jean MacDonald. The pair had been hiding in the home from Mr. Warner, Sr. who was opposed to their relationship and was seeking to end all contact between the pair. Mrs. Antibus served as a private detective for Mr. Warner, Jr. and had previously conducted an investigation into the life of Mrs. MacDonald in attempt to determine whether she was truly in love with Mr. Warner, Jr. Mrs. Antibus alleged that the raid left several of her visitors injured and was unnecessarily violent.

Self-proclaimed benefactor of the elderly, Robert Noble (facing left), surrounded by some of his followers in the courtroom. Noble was a radio personality who gained loyal followers from an old age pension plan he promoted. Noble and his followers were arrested on October 17, 1937 while staging a demonstration near radio station KMTR. Noble was charged with holding a parade without permit, blocking the sidewalk and refusing to disperse on police command. After a lengthy trial, Noble spent five days in jail, he planned to use the time to prepare speeches for a gubernatorial campaign. He said he was pleased that he would have a captive audience during this time.

Description:
Agnes Thorsen appears in court as a witness in the "white flame" murder trial. Paul A. Wright, Thorsen's former employer, was charged with the murder of his wife and best friend in his Glendale home. Wright claimed to be not guilty by reason of insanity, as a "white hot rage" supposedly overtook him when he witnessed his wife and best friend purportedly embracing while sitting together on the piano bench. Thorsen testified that she had no knowledge of the Wrights quarreling while she was under their employ in early 1937.
