H. wears dark clothes and rests his hand to his hip. Next to him, Mertie has one arm wrapped around H. H. and the other rests at her side. She wears a striped dress. Wes stands slightly behind her and rests one arm on Mertie's right shoulder and rests the other on Zetta's left shoulder. He wears a fedora hat, jacket and vest. At right, Zetta stands with her arms clasped in front of her as Wes's arm rests on her shoulder.

Photograph of Mertie West looking at charts posted in the storefront window of Pan American World Airways. A street stretches across the foreground on an upward angle from right to left. Mertie West stands in the near distance at center with her back to camera. She faces the shop window and looks at something posted in the window. The window extends to Mertie's right. Etched in the window it reads, "PAA The System of the Flying Clippers PAN AMERICAN WORLD AIRWAYS." To Mertie's left, the front door sits back from the sidewalk. Etched into the glass of the door, it reads, "ALASKA SERVICE SEATTLE KETCHIKAN JUNEAU WHITEHORSE FAIRBANKS GALENA NOME McGRATH BETHEL." Another window and door sit to the left of that door. In the window at left, it reads, "CANADIAN PACIFIC." A doorway also stands along the right frame. An awning in the streamline moderne-style hovers over the sidewalk.

Photograph of Mertie West standing outside the New York Stock Exchange building while visiting the Financial District. A wide sidewalk enters frame along the bottom edge at left and stretches back towards center. In the foreground at right, a car in partial view is parked along the curb, facing camera. Two men lean against the car and face left. Just beyond them, in the near distance, Mertie West stands along the street curb. She stands in profile facing left, but turns her head to camera. Men walk along the sidewalk to the left of her and away from the camera. The New York Stock Exchange building lines the far left side of the sidewalk. It enters frame from the left edge and stands in partial view. Decorated corbels support balconies that extend outward from the building's second-story. An American Flag and a United Hospital Fund flag also extend out from the building and fly over the sidewalk. In the distance at right, Federal Hall National Monument stands in partial view. It is viewed from its front facade. Columns line its portico, supporting an entablature and pediment. A statue stands outside the front of the building. Surrounding buildings in the Financial District rise in the background.
