Thorsen testified that she had no knowledge of the Wrights quarreling while she was under their employ in early 1937.

Noted evangelist and founder of the Angelus Temple and the Foursquare Church, Aimee Semple McPherson, appears in court. This appearance is possibly related to her testifying in her own defense in a breach of contract suit regarding a film, "Clay in the Potter's Hands", in which she was to appear. The film's producer, J. Roy Stewart, died before the trial was completed, but the suit was found in his favor and McPherson ordered to pay $5900 to assignees of his interest in the contract. The trial took place in January of 1934.

Attorney Jerry Giesler, at the trial in which his client Dr. Dazey is accused of murdering his second wife, actress Doris S. Dazey, in 1935. Doris Dazey's death was originally believed to be suicide by monoxide poisoning. However, witnesses claimed that Dr. Dazey had been boasting about committing the "perfect crime" and a night watchman testified to witnessing Dazey carry a woman's body from the house to the garage on the night of the murder. Other factors complicating the trial were the paternity of Doris and George Dazey's child, Doris Dazey's possible mental illness, and false testimonies from some of the witnesses. Dr. Dazey was ultimately acquitted of the crime.

Clifford E. Clinton, Los Angeles restaurateur and philanthropist, appears in court beside his wife Nelda Clinton. At the time of this photo, Clinton was a member of the Los Angeles County Grand Jury. He was cited for contempt of court for attempting to present the findings of his "Citizens' Independent Vice Investigating Committee (CIVIC)" before the Grand Jury, while refusing to name his sources or clarify what case he was attempting to present. Another Grand Jury member, Harry L. Ferguson, as well as Clinton's lawyer A. Brigham Rose and his legal secretary Pauline Huff, were all additionally cited for contempt. The charges were dismissed on December 1, 1937, on the technicality that the Grand Jury lacked the authority to issue the citation.

Description:
Coroner Frank Nance listens to a testimony from Leona Navy at the Paul A. Wright inquest. Navy is a maid who lives in the home of Wright. Wright is accused of the murder of his wife, Evelyn, and best friend, John Kimmel. Wright confessed to shooting the pair in a fit of "white hot rage" after finding them in an embrace in his home. After the inquest, complaints were signed against Wright for the two deaths. A trial, called the "white flame" trial by the press, followed in which Wright was eventually let off on an insanity plea, thanks to his lawyer Jerry Giesler.

The trial opened May 11, 1937 and ran for several months.
