Description:
Pilot Gladys O'Donnell in a dress with a corsage. O'Donnell is sitting on a table beside two trophies. She holds the silver trophy that reads "Aerol Trophy, Women's National Air Speed Race." The text on its base refers to her 1930 win as well as Maude Irving Tait's 1931 win. This photograph was probably taken in September 1932, when O'Donnell won the trophy for a second time.

Description:
A letter from John Anson Ford the the Editor of the Los Angeles Times, offering corrections regarding an article that appeared in the Times on September 9, 1936. Anson had just been elected chairman of the Democratic County Central Committee and writes that the article, in referring to him as an Epic candidate, was incorrect. He states that he was not endorsed by the Epics, and that he has no plans to run for mayor, concluding "there are people who assume public office, or other public position, for the purpose of sincerely rendering service, and without ulterior purposes. I aim to be such a person." The letter is typed on station with the letterhead: John Anson Ford Company/Advertising - Publicity/916 C. C. Chapman Building/Los Angeles/Established 1920

Contingents of marines and sailors, shown below, from the Battle Fleet presented a striking feature of Preparedness Parade yesterday as with gleaming rifles they marched down Spring street past City Hall. Soldiers, sailors, marines, National Guardsmen, reserve officers and veterans' organizations including the American Legion took part in the demonstration of preparedness.

Ned R. Powley and other officials of the Southern California Telephone Company on the occasion of a historic transatlantic phone call, 1927

Description:
Southern California Telephone Company vice-president and general manager N. R. Powley sits at the head of a table with an old-fashioned "candlestick" telephone. He is accompanied by ten other seated men, some of whom are wearing headphones. Photograph was taken on the occasion of a 10-minute phone call between Powley and H. E. Shreve, assistant to the vice-president of the American Telegraph Company, in his office in London. At that time, the call set a world record for long distance transmission of a human voice.

Description:
At left, a Santa Claus sits, facing right, in his small Christmas display as he greets visiting children. Three young girls line up to the right of him. The two leftmost girls don the same outfit. One of them stands slightly behind Santa Claus and smiles to camera. Her sister (presumably) stands in front of Santa and looks towards him. A girl in braided pigtails stands to the right of them. She pouts as she looks towards Santa Claus. The back of Santa Claus' chair is shaped like a Christmas tree. It is recessed in a little alcove that is flanked by candy-cane striped columns.
