Related to the article, "Hope of Rescue Wanes for Three Boys Lost at Sea: Fears Also Arise for Safety of Four Men Aboard Research Boat; More Gale Victims Saved," Los Angeles Times, 6 Apr. 1936: 1
A different photograph of the same shipwreck and debris field contains the caption, “WIND-DRIVEN WAVES BRING IN FIREWOOD FOR NEEDY […],” Los Angeles Times, 6 Apr. 1936: 18
The camera looks north along a debris-covered Newport Beach. Driftwood and wreckage line the lower right edge in the foreground. At left and nearer to the water, more debris lines the beach as it stretches back towards center. In the distance at center, the remains of Bill's Barge sits aground at the water's edge. Waves approach the shore from the left. Houses are visible lining the beach in the far distance at right. Also in the far distance, a pier extends into the water at center.
A different photograph of the same storm debris appears in the photo spread titled, "Gale-Lashed Coast Strewn With Debris--Craft Wrecked by Pounding Seas," Los Angeles Times, 6 Apr. 1936: 18
