Description:
The Ludington estate, also known as Val Verde, Dias Felices, the Henry Dater house, and the Dr. Warren Austin home was designed by the architect Bertram Grovenor Goodhue, constructed in 1918 and then purchased by Charles H. Ludington in 1924. His son, Wright Saltus Ludington (who inherited the estate in 1927 or 1930), engaged the landscape architect Lockwood de Forest to design the gardens in 1925. Retaining the geometry of Goodhue's design and much of the wilderness, Lockwood transformed the gardens over a period of twenty-three years.

View of the Monumento Nazionale Vittorio Emmanuele II (National Monument to Victor Emmanuel II) from Piazza Venezia in Rome. Victor Emmanuel was the first king of unified Italy. The monument was built between 1911 and 1935 and features a central statue of Victor Emmanuel on a horse, Corinthian colums, a wide stairway and two statues of the goddess Victoria riding on quadrigas, a chariot drawn by four horses. The monument is built out of white marble and houses the museum of Italian Reunification and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Two pictures of the La Mission La Purísima Concepción ruins, Lompoc, 1930

Description:
The ruins of Mission La Purísima Concepción, or La Purisima Mission. The original mission was damaged in 1812 by an earthquake and rebuilt in a new location. These buildings were then abadoned in 1843 and fell mostly into disrepair until December 7, 1941, the day of the fully restored mission's dedication.
