View of Santa Barbara's sweepstakes winning "Peacock" float with twins Marguerite and Mary Somerville reading fairy stories in a garden composed of 2 urns and a fountain at the front, mechanical peacocks and steps leading to a large peacock in the center, and classical structure with columns and more urns at the back. The float was photographed at the intersection of Orange Grove Blvd. and Colorado Blvd.
The "Iris and the Rainbow" float, entered by the city of Altadena, with Betty Wilcox as Iris holding the streamer attached to six floral peacocks, accompanied by 4 flower girls (Janet Horning, Joan Smith, Anna Kelly and Marion Rutan) all beneath a wide floral rainbow.
"River of Destiny" float shows the Colorado River flowing from heather and pompom mountains at the back, through desert and a channel in another mountain to a land of flowers. Two little girls, June Muhleman and Jane Putney, play in the flowers. The float was entered by the Metropolitan Water District. The float is shown heading east on Colorado Blvd. on the first block east of Orange Grove Blvd. at the start of the parade route.
Close-up view of a little girl seated on a float, possibly the "A Midsummer Night's Dream" float, wearing a costume with a satin bodice, tutu skirt and light wings. The house in the background indicates that the float is on Orange Grove Blvd., probably before the start of the Rose Parade.
