Description:: Harlan Bunker, father of murder victim Marilyn Bunker, provides witness testimony in court. Marilyn was shot by 17-year-old Donald Rogers, also known as Donald Fehrenschild, while she was playing on a hill with her little brother and other children. Rogers shot at the children from the upstairs window of his home. However, Rogers insisted that he was trying to shoot doves he had seen on the hillside.

Description:: Miss Cherrie Armour, daughter of an oil company executive, who faced many legal woes in 1940. In January she went to court to try to stop her ex-husband James Monroe Jefferson from reducing her alimony payments. In September she was sentenced to a year in county jail and forced to pay a settlement to Jean and Josephine Rose for injuring them in a hit-and-run car accident, during which Armour was under the influence of alcohol.

Description:: A woman stands on debris from a landslide that began in Elysian Park. The landslide started near the top of Buena Vista Peak as a small crack in the earth. The crack began separating at a rate of about half an inch every 24 hours, then became a meandering zig-zag, and finally a landslide on November 26, 1937. During the landslide 1,500,000 tons of loose rock and dirt tumbled down the hill and onto a 600 foot stretch of Riverside Drive. The disaster caused rerouting of traffic and attracted thousands of spectators. Because the initial crack was identified early, damage and injuries were largely avoided
