Description:
View of the Ada E. Bowers Memorial Fountain in the courtyard of the Bowers Museum, with a statue of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, discoverer of California, and bas-relief scenes behind the statue and along the base of the fountain. To the left of Cabrillo is a rocky formation from which water issues. Behind Cabrillo are 3 scenes including Cabrillo and companions facing Indians on the sea shore with a ship in the ocean in the distance, a mission church, and Indians in a wooden carat (carretta) drawn by oxen. At the base are 8 bas-relief scenes apparently depicting episodes from the mission era and later settlement by ranchers and farmers. A plaque in the center bears the text "Mrs. Bowers Memorial Fountain."

View of the Bank of America building in downtown Santa Monica on the NW corner of Santa Monica Blvd and 3rd Street at Christmas time. A garland of holly can be seen in the top of the photo, while people walk the crosswalk in the foreground. The building is still there (as of 2013), heavily altered but with the relief frieze still visible.

The man is likely a lifeguard, as he holds a floatation device on which the letters "guards" can be seen. He also wears a hat. He leans on the bumper of a jeep, one hand on the shoulder of the boy closest to him. In the distance, other men can be seen standing in the shore in beach attire.
