This ledger encompasses five subsections covering two main themes. (1) Detailed statistics about laborers living in Ibicaba farm in 1890 (some of whom had been working there since 1877). The exact information varies by subsection (sheets 1-43, 45-52, 53-77, and 80-84), but there is nominal data for each member of the households living in the farm, their demographic and socioeconomic characteristics (marital status, sex, age, nationality, occupation, and religion), place of residence within the farm per colony or reference points (Abundancia, Boa Esperança, Colonia Ibicaba [or simply “Ibicaba”], Gramma Larga, “Residing near the farmhouse” [“Morando perto da Fazenda”], Teteia, and Ypyranga), number of coffee trees cultivated, and harvest. There is also occasional data on skin color and the behavior of the workers according to the farm’s administration. The subsection on sheets 80-84 refers to the managerial personal. (2) General balance sheet in the format of a General journal. This section contains accounting data on agricultural and zootechnical production (brandy [“cachaça”], coffee, cornmeal, wood), services executed in the farm (processing of coffee and rice, services in the repair shop, renting of houses and grasslands, transportation, “offals” [“miudesas” SIC]), labor costs (payments for employees, colonists, and workers per piece rate or fixed time [“camaradas”], expenses with pruning coffee trees), coffee harvesting, general expenditures with construction work in the farm, and financial transactions and taxes. Entries were organized chronologically from January 1909 to July 1911 (the dates continue until August 1911, but there is no actual accounting entry for that month). At the end of each year, there is a summary of the rubrics and the overall financial situation. - Contents note
