The young man stands at center. He is dressed in his military uniform and takes an athletic stance while posing which his rifle. He holds it at the ready and looks towards the right. He stands on a patch of snow that covers the ground around him and extends back into the image. Behind and to the right of the serviceman, the side of a Quonset hut stretches across the image. It enters frame at right. It is constructed of corrugated sheet metal and has an arced roof. A low hill covered in patches of snow stands in the distance at left.
