Defense attorney Jerry Giesler photographed standing next to the jury, during the "white flame" double homicide trial of aviation executive Paul A. Wright. Wright was charged with the shooting deaths of his wife Evelyn and best friend John Kimmel, whom he claimed to have caught in an "inappropriate" embrace in the Wright home.Giesler led Wright's defense team, and argued that Wright was not guilty by reason of insanity. The jury found Wright guilty of two counts of manslaughter, and subsequently ruled that he had been insane at his sanity trial.

Front row left to right: Mrs. Dorothy Deel, Jackson Collins, Mrs. Grace A. Calvert, Harold Harby, George Ritchie, and Ben Fulton. Back row left to right: Mrs. Winifred W. Howard, Mrs. Beatrice Hard, Charles M. Truax, Mrs. Shirley Angranoff, Butler E. Shaw (who replaced Mrs. Ruth Roth), and Jury Foreman James D. Kelly. The jury for the trial of Albert Dyer, a 32 year old W.P.A crossing guard who confessed to the murders of three Inglewood girls. Dyer admitted to luring the girls; Madeline Everett (9), Melba Everett (7), and Jeanette Stephens (8) into the woods on the pretense of helping them catch rabbits and then strangled them in succession. Dyer was sentenced to death after the jury's two day debate. On September 16, 1938 at San Quentin Prison, Dyer was one of the last people to be hung in the state of California

Harlan Bunker, father of murder victim Marilyn Bunker, provides witness testimony in court. Marilyn was shot by 17-year-old Donald Rogers, also known as Donald Fehrenschild, while she was playing on a hill with her little brother and other children. Rogers shot at the children from the upstairs window of his home. However, Rogers insisted that he was trying to shoot doves he had seen on the hillside.

Description:
Miss Cherrie Armour, daughter of an oil company executive, who faced many legal woes in 1940. In January she went to court to try to stop her ex-husband James Monroe Jefferson from reducing her alimony payments. In September she was sentenced to a year in county jail and forced to pay a settlement to Jean and Josephine Rose for injuring them in a hit-and-run car accident, during which Armour was under the influence of alcohol.

Inglewood Boy Scout Albert Portune testifies for the court in the murders of children Jeanette Stevens (age 8), Melba Everett (age 9), and Madeline Everett (age 6). Portune was one of four scouts who discovered the bodies of the three girls in the Baldwin Park ravine; the four were part of a larger search group comprised of Boy Scouts. August 12, 1937.

Dr. George K. Dazey and his third wife, Dorcas Dazey, at the trial where Dr. Dazey is accused of the murder of his second wife, Doris S. Dazey, Los Angeles, 1939-1940

Description:
Dr. George K. Dazey and his third wife, Dorcas Dazey, at the trial in which Dr. Dazey is accused of murdering his second wife, actress Doris S. Dazey, in 1935. Doris Dazey's death was originally believed to be suicide by monoxide poisoning. However, witnesses claimed that Dr. Dazey had been boasting about committing the "perfect crime" and a night watchman testified to witnessing Dazey carry a woman's body from the house to the garage on the night of the murder. Other factors complicating the trial were the paternity of Doris and George Dazey's child, Doris Dazey's possible mental illness, and false testimonies from some of the witnesses. Dr. Dazey was ultimately acquitted of the crime.
