ANSWER:The photo shows Angels Flight as it crosses over Clay St. ("It is here angels do not have feet of clay" -- wow!) And a nickel does give you a lot of pull here because the cost of a round-trip ticket on this, the city's smallest franchised railroad, is -- 5 cents. But you probably guessed it. That angular car was a dead giveaway

Description:
ANSWER: The structure in the photo is the Avila Adobe, generally conceded to be the oldest building in Los Angeles. It is located at 14 Olvera Street. Built in 1818 by Don Francisco Avila, it served as American headquarters in 1847 when U.S. troops captured the city. It has the further distinction of having flown four flags--Spanish, Mexican, the California Republic, and the Stars and Stripes. And, as Consuela de Bonzo, "Queen" of Olvera Street, puts it: "It is the only place in the world around here like that."

ANSWER: Although only a small portion of it was shown you should've recognized the Ebell Club, which is at 4400 Wilshire Blvd., corner of Lucerne Blvd. And we made it easy by mentioning the theater, the Wilshire Ebell Theater, which is at the rear of the premises.

ANSWER: There were a million landmarks to tell you that the camera was pointed north from the City Hall tower. In the foreground are the top of the Federal Building and the Hollywood-Santa Ana Freeway. Off to the right are the clump of trees that is the Plaza and beyond it the Post Office Terminal Annex. At the extreme left N Broadway heads toward the tree-covered hills of Elysian Park.

ANSWER: Si, Senor, it is the old Pico House, the oldest hotel in Los Angeles and little pueblo's first three-story structure. Built in 1869, it was the sensation of its day -- had floors and bathtubs. It was named, of course, after Pio Pico, last Mexican Governor of California. Its location is now designated as the southeast corner of Plaza and N Main Sts. That big square shape at the extreme right in the photograph is, of course, the Federal Building, and , beyond it, the tower of the City Hall.
