Description:
Ray Gagan as the Duke of Mantua with the characters of Sparafucile and his sister in a Santa Monica Civic Opera production of "Rigoletto" Gagan wears stockings and a doublet-inspired tunic with a small ruff at the neck and cuffs. Sparafucile and his sister wear Romani (Gypsy) costumes. He wears a white shirt and vest, a scarf covering his head. She wears a peasant blouse, beads, and a scarf around her hips over her long skirt, with a flower in her hair. The stage set is the interior of a dwelling with stucco walls, a curtained window and doors. A cloth-covered table and chairs complete the scenery.

Enrico Porta, as Rigoletto, and Ray Gagan, as the Duke of Mantua, performing with other cast members in “Rigoletto" The singers wear costumes evoking 16th century attire - the female singers wear long gowns with full skirts and full, round sleeves. The men wear stockings, doublet-inspired tunics, ruff collars, and baldrics (for holding a sword) around the waist. Porta (L) and Gagan stand at center stage and sing with cast members standing behind them. The stage set represents a room in the Duke’s palace complete with a throne (an ornate wooden chair covered with a canopy, placed on an elevated platform). The walls are built with faux columns and crests mounted on them. Musicians are viewed in the orchestra pit at foreground.
