Will E. MacFaden (1913-1992) and Robert W. Kenny (1901-1976), pose together as two of California's youngest judges. William E. MacFaden (1913-1992) became the youngest judge in the state of California when he was sworn in as Redondo Beach city judge on July 1934.Robert W. Kenny was a former reporter and one of the youngest judges selected to serve as a Superior Court Judge in Los Angeles. He was appointed on December 6, 1932. He later served as the 21st Attorney General of California.

Robert S. James sitting in the witness stand with a plan of his home behind him. An unidentified man is visible in front of him. He was most likely testifying in his own defense for the murder trial of his wife Mary Emma James. He purportedly had an affair with his niece, which spurred him to tie down his wife and have a rattlesnake bite her, and then later drown her in their fish pond. He was supposedly helped by his friend, ex-sailor Charles H. Hope, who was also charged with murder.

Annual "Jackson Day" fund raising dinner for the Democratic party, held by the Young Democrats Club in the Ambassador Hotel's Fiesta Room on January 8, 1936. The gathering listened to a radio broadcast by President Franklin Delano Roosvelt, in which he stated his intention to run for re-election, and then listened to a speech by Governor of Florida David Sholtz. Gov. Sholtz is pictured to the left of the podium in this photo, smiling at the camera. Beside him is Florida's First Lady Alice May Agee Sholtz.

Before becoming a federal judge, President Roosevelt appointed him Comptroller of the Currency in 1933. He served in this position during the Great Depression and resigned in 1938. Ford was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from California's 14th congressional district from 1933-1945.

Mayor Shaw with Dwight Long who sailed the globe for four years on a 32-foot sailboat. Frank Lawrence Shaw (February 1, 1877 – January 24, 1958) was an American politician. In 1933, he successfully ran for mayor of Los Angeles. He was re-elected in 1937 but was recalled from office on September 16, 1938. Dwight Long sailed a 32-foot sailboat around the world from 1934-1938.

Description:
Myrtle Takaoka and her brother Hal Takaoka in court at a preliminary hearing involving the murder of their dancer sister, Midi Takaoka. Judge Irvin Taplin was presiding. The dancer's throat was cut by her jilted lover, waiter Raymond Johnson. Johnson later was sentenced to life in prison.
