The group stands at center in the driveway that abuts the right side of the house. Margaret Deming stands leftmost. Her arms cross in front of her as she tilts her head back and to the left with eyes closed. Behind and to the right of her, Jack Von Posch stands. He wraps an arm around both Margaret and Jane as he gazes off towards the left. Jane Deming stands in front and to the right of Jack. She looks to the camera as she crosses her arms in front of her. At right, H. H. West, Jr. stands facing slightly left. He places his hands in his trouser pockets and looks off to the left. The driveway stretches behind them on angle from the lower left corner and back towards the right. Behind the group and to the left of the driveway, the Deming house stands. The bungalow is viewed at an angle from the front and the side. A porch spans the entire width of the front of the home. A low-pitched dormer sits atop the roof. About 3-4 windows line the right side of the house. A garage peeks from behind the right side of the house.

Cutting garden for Dr. and Mrs. P. G. White residence, Los Angeles, 1933-1938

Description:
Below the landscaping plan there is also a distant perspective view of the cutting garden. The house on the property was probably designed by the architecture firm of Webber, Stanton and Spaulding. It was constructed in 1927 by the firm Chisholm, Fortine & Meikle, Architecture, Engineering & Construction. The house was featured in Architectural Digest in 1928. The date for the cutting garden is from the nitrate negative sleeves for the photographic images.

Stanley Reckless seated in the studio of his Silver Lake home, Los Angeles, 1930-1939

Description:
Stanley Reckless was born Stanley Zbytniewski. In 1913 he enrolled at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), studied under Daniel Garber. In 1915, 1916 he was awarded 2 Cresson Traveling Scholarships, and traveled to Paris, enrolling briefly at the Academie Julian. In 1920 he moved to Lumberville, Pennsylvania and started exhibiting at PAFA, the National Academy of Design, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art. In 1924 he settled in New Hope, Pennsylvania, where he painted the landscape and shared a studio with Charles Hargens. In 1930 he moved to California where he painted portraits of members of the film industry. He co-founded the Art Center School in Los Angeles.
