Description:
Los Angeles police officers H.W. Card, Arthur S. Shivell, Eugene Biscailuz, S.F. Griggers, C.J. Salazar, W.R. Stark and C.E. Pealer, with the trophies they won in a shooting competition with policemen in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Each team competed in their home city and the scores were transmitted by radiogram. The Los Angeles team won five out of the six events.

Noticiario La Voz Dominicana (El Mundo al Día): Comisión del Colegio de Profesionales del Distrito Nacional, lleva flores a Julia Molina, la acompaña su hija Japonesa Trujillo de Ruiz Monteagudo; entre los asistentes se encuentra el ingeniero Heriberto Castro, Rafael Santoni Calero, Francisco A. Rodríguez Jiménez y José Manuel Ramos. El secretario de la Presidencia, A. Amado Hernández recibe, en representación de Rafael Leónidas Trujillo Molina, la "Medalla de Oro de Alfabetización", hace la entrega el presidente del Comité Ejecutivo Nacional de la Confederación de Profesionales Universitarios, ingeniero Juan Ulises García Bonnelly. Acto celebrado en el Aula Magna de la Universidad de Santo Domingo, en muestra de lealtad a Trujillo. El secretario de Educación, Manuel Ramón Ruiz Tejada, recibe cheque de parte del presidente del Colegio de Profesionales del Distrito para la "Campaña Trujillo de Alfabetización", aparece Altagracia Bautista de Suárez. El coronel Ferdinand J. Tate, director del Servicio Geodésico Interamericano y el comandante Charles Clark, asesor técnico del Servicio Geodésico y de Costas de los Estados Unidos, visitan el Palacio Nacional; son recibidos por el teniente general Rafael Leónidas Trujillo Martínez, Ramfis, en la Jefatura de Estado Mayor de la Aviación Militar Dominicana. Competencia de tiros de revólver. Inauguración del edificio de la Lotería Nacional en la Feria de la Paz, aparece su director, Yamil Isaías, monseñor Eliseo Pérez Sánchez, entre otros. Rafael Leónidas Trujillo Molina asiste a la Serie Internacional de Polo entre República Dominicana y Jamaica.

A medal presented to John C. Austin is viewed close-up. The medal hangs down from a ribbon that stretches across the top of the image. It is star-shaped. Within the star is some Arabic script. Above the star's top point, a small laurel wreath attaches to a small ring. It rests against an unknown larger, leather object.

William May Garland receives the Order of the White Lion from Felix Janovsky with Madilene Veverka present, Los Angeles, 1935

Description:
Dr. Felix Janovsky, Czechoslovakia consul in Los Angeles, pins the Order of the White Lion on William May Garland, president of the 1932 Olympiad in Los Angeles. Standing next to Garland is Dr. Madilene Veverka (aka Madeline), who was head supervisor of Los Angeles city schools, kindergarten and primary grades. The Order of the White Lion was an award of merit by Czechoslovakia for foreign citizens.
