Notes
- Description
- Photograph of Mertie West standing on a step outside the front door to the motor lodge she and H. H. West stayed at while passing through San Jose. A gravel drive passes across the foreground on an upward angle from right to left. The span of motel rooms runs parallel to the drive, entering the frame at left and stretching towards the right. Mertie West stands at center on a concrete step in front of the front door to an end unit room. To her left, two cars are parked, side-by-side, beneath a covered parking area. A door to another unit stands at far left and extends out-of-frame. Trees and shrubbery line the side of the building at right.
