Stories of Hope
Monica Laureen Johnson
I have had Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis since the age of 3. I am 34 years
old now and have undergone 4 total joint replacements due to this disease.
I have a fake ankle, two fake knees and a fake hip. I am almost a bionic woman!
Stem cell research would be able to find a cure for this horrible systemic
autoimmune disease. Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and other childhood rheumatic
diseases affect almost 300,000 children nationwide. Maybe some day with the
help of stem cell research, they will be able to replace my fake joints with
real ones again and fix my immune system so it stops attacking my own joint
tissues. For the children of the future, please support Prop 71 so that one
day there will be a complete cure for Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis... this
is my ultimate wish!
