Rogers was charged with the crime. Although he insisted that he was shooting at doves on the hillside, Rogers's bullets fell near Marilyn, her two brothers, and several other children playing in the grass. When she started to run home for help, Marilyn was shot under the eye and died immediately.

Lolita and Ramona came to Los Angeles all the way from San Francisco to find work, where they picked up a ride from John E. White. The two were found sleeping in his car and White was taken into police custody pending an investigation. The girls profess that they like Los Angeles so much that if they are sent home they will just run away again.

High school students Stella Mark of Lincoln High and Miriam Edwards and Hans Neutzel of Polytechnic High have won the opportunity to write the program notes for the second of the series of three Philharmonic Orchestra concerts for school children sponsored by the women's committee of the orchestra. The students were also introduced to conductor Otto Klemperer.
The fifteen-year-old boys escaped from the California Junior Republic, lied that they were twin brothers with their father paying for their fare and boarded a train all the way to Santa Fe before they were apprehended by police.
