Crowds gathered to hear President Roosevelt’s speech at the end of a motorcade through the city. The trip was Roosevelt’s first as President. Newspapers estimated the crowd at the Coliseum in the tens of thousands.

Art Shafer and Zeb Terry were members of the Stanford Alumni team that played against Stanford Varsity at Gilmore Stadium on March 26, 1936. Zeb Terry was a former shortstop for the Chicago Cubs and Art Shafer had played with the New York Giants.
