A photograph of the same cabin appears with the article, "THREE DIE IN SEA LASHED BY RETREATING STORM: Santa Monica Rescue Efforts Fail; Deluge Sweeps Canyon Colony; More Bridges Washed Out," Los Angeles Times, 09 Apr. 1926: A1
Near the lower right corner, several people stand clustered together. To the left of them, a rock-lined dirt road inclines past the lower left corner. Another group of people stand at left, but to the right of the road. Beyond the on-lookers and stretching into the distance is a debris-covered landscape. Rocks, branches and boulders cover the ground. In the near distance at center, a man combs through dammed-up debris. Two other men at left walk through the debris. At far right, water rushes over a short waterfall. In the distance at left, a building stands, appearing to have suffered some damage from the flood.
Flood waters, boulders and other rocky debris occupy the foreground and stretch back towards the left. In the near distance at right, a damaged cabin sits in partial view, facing slightly left. Damage is visible on the left side of the cabin and boulders line the front side of it. Two tree trunks extend from the cabin and to the left.
In the foreground at left and center, boulders and a large branch sit on the bank of a stream. At right, the stream flows towards the lower right corner, and stretches back towards center. Buildings line both banks. Three buildings stand at left and angle back towards center and 2 stand at right, angling back towards center. On both sides of the stream, the buildings farthest from camera suffer the most damage. At right, a cabin's roof collapses down onto the cabin. At left, the top half of the structure leans heavily over the stream. Beyond the damaged buildings, a bridge spans the stream in the background at center.
