Reporter Dick Garten interviews artist José-Luis Gonzalez, founder of the Goez Art Gallery & Studio in East Los Angeles. Gonzalez talks about how the gallery’s intention is to provide exposure and encouragement for Chicano artists, with professional artists volunteering time at the studio to help non-professional artists become proficient. Most artists participating are from East Los Angeles and create Mexican American or Chicano-themed art to preserve their culture and heritage. Gonzalez further explains the high interest in contemporary Chicano art and discusses the meaning of “Chicano.” Includes silent footage of the gallery's exterior and shots of artists drawing and painting.
