From University of Hawaii College of Education web site: "In 1929, the TNS, which had outgrown its buildings on the side of Punchbowl, acquired land at the corner of University Avenue and Metcalf Street, and a building plus an annex were erected. A large campus with several buildings was planned for the site. However, in 1931, the legislature merged the TNS with the University, creating the Teachers College ... [in 1951] the Regents named the TC Building Wist Hall"

Inset map shows Reseda Boulevard intersecting with Sunset Boulevard. According to Los Angeles Times, March 20, 1998, "Crossroads of Confusion," a plan to extend Reseda to Sunset and the Santa Monica area began in the 1920s and was scrapped in 1977. Some city maps incorrectly show an intersection between Reseda and Sunset.

De Luz is an unincorporated community in San Diego County, approximately 12 miles east of the Pacific Ocean and at the southern end of the Santa Ana Mountains. The post office is historically significant because it was once the nation's smallest post office. A car is also pictured parked in front of the post office.

Exterior view of the ramparts, round towers, and battlements (crenelations) around the fortified French town of Carcassonne. The town was officially founded in the fifth century but the settlement was fortified by the Romans even earlier. Structures include fifty-three towers and a double ring of ramparts around the outskirts of the town.

Master town plan, Trona, 1942

Description:
The American Potash & Chemical Corporation specialized in sodium and potassium products. During WWII, the company entered the finished chemicals field by processing and marketing chemicals like potassium bromide. In 1946, American Potash opened a plant in Trona, CA which produced soda ash--used to make glass and soap. School on plan is the Trona Unified School. A Ralph D. Cornell planting plan for the school is dated February 1942. The architect listed on that plan is Henry Gogerty.
