Servicemen commemorate Decoration Day at Los Angeles National Cemetery, Los Angeles, about 1895
- Description:
- A blurry photograph of servicemen performing services in commemoration of Decoration (Memorial) Day in Los Angeles National Cemetery. In the near distance, an obelisk stands atop a low mound at right. Servicemen surround the monument on 3 sides. Just inside the left edge of the image, several servicemen hold up American flags. They face right, towards the obelisk. In the distance at center, servicemen stand in row and hold firearms; they face towards the camera and obelisk. They appear to have just fired a gun salute as a cloud of white smoke hovers over them. The line of servicemen at center extends around the right side of the obelisk and out-of-frame at right. Hills stand in the far distance.
