Nearly 500 persons attended the dedication of the new park. Father Charles Burns carried out the ceremony of "blessing the house." Patriotic and historical organizations took part in the formal dedication outside the new structure of the clubhouse center. People were dressed in early Californian attire.
A large crowd gathers inside Warner Brothers convention hall during the opening session of the American Legion's annual conference. The front end of a stage stretches along the bottom edge. Beyond it, hundreds of attendees completely fill the auditorium. They sit facing towards the camera. Numbered signs rise out from the crowd and note each district. Striped banners hang from the auditorium's ceiling. A large American flag hangs in the back of the auditorium at center.
At center, the USS Pennsylvania (BB-38) sails towards the right. It is viewed from its starboard side. At the ship's stern, the American flag waves and text across the hull reads, "Pennsylvania." A few boats sail alongside the battleship.
Older men in robes gather on a temporary stage on the Coliseum's field. A large pile of rolled diplomas are with them on the stage. President Rufus B. von KleinSmid sits fourth seat from the left.
A procession of church attendees (children in front) with wrapped items (most are cylindrical although there are some larger flat packages as well, held by adults) are handing off their packages to a man, and a pile of already received gifts are on a flat raised arc next to him. In the back of the church is a choir and small organ on a raised platform. Four men (3 sitting and 1 standing) are in chairs in front of the choir. Other church attendees remain seated while this gift procession is occurring. Two flags are in front of the choir, an American flag and possibly the Christian flag. Several undecorated Christmas trees are standing on either end of the center arc.
A post of the American Legion has been made up entirely of Japanese men who will be travelling to Fresno for the California State convention for ex-service men.
