Description:
Police officer Dick Barlow writing a ticket for Dick Russell during a planned race between an automobile and a bus. The race was part of a "Don't be April fools, obey Traffic rules" campaign to prove that safe driving always prospers. Russell sped and disobeyed traffic laws in the automobile and almost beat safe driver Frank Lampley's bus full of Chamber of Commerce ladies, until the Barlow intervened.

Description:
Smoke rises over the L.A. Harbor while a coast guard boat battles the fire that began when the Markay, an oil tanker owned by the Keystone Tankship Corp., exploded in the wee hours of the morning. The fire was fed by leaking gasoline and threatened at least five terminals in the harbor. At least 22 were injured and 9, maybe 12, people were killed. Damage was estimated at $10,000,000.

The woman standing to the right of Ethel (Sissle) Gordon is possibly Mrs. Darby(?), first name unknown.

Funeral of Archbishop Cantwell in St. Vibiana's Cathedral, Los Angeles, 1947

Description:
The former Cathedral of Saint Vibiana, located at 214 South Main Street, is one of Los Angeles' few remaining 19th century landmarks and was completed in 1876. The Cathedral was decommissioned at some point between 1994 and 1999 after which it underwent seismic retrofitting and restoration and, in the process, was converted to an event space called Vibiana.
