Crowd outside the Goodwill Industries premises in the Baker Block building, where a fire occurred on January 14, 1938. Remarkably, 400 crippled and elderly men and women, as well as 20 children in the nursery, escaped the event unharmed. Firefighters were able to keep the blaze from spreading throught the entire building, which had been in use since 1868.
