GOEBEL WAS FORCED TO LAND AT PHOENIX, ARIZ FOR GAS. TWO OTHER FLYERS, GEO. HALDEMAN AND LT. JACK ISEMAN BOTH FLYING BELLANCA PLANES WERE PRESUMED TO BE ON THEIR WAY, THOUGH NO WORD OF THEIR PROGRESS HAD BEEN RECEIVED FOR SOME TIME BEFORE GOEBEL'S ARRIVAL. HARRY TUCKER, FINANCIAL BACKER OF THE YANKEE DOODLE ACCOMPANIED GOEBEL ON THE LONG DIST HOP. Description:: George Haldeman was an American aviator, who in 1928 participated in a transcontinental race from New York to Los Angeles. He was forced to land for oil in New Mexico. The end point of the air race George Haldeman participated in was Mines Field in Los Angeles. Mines Field would soon become what is now Los Angeles International Airport.
