Description:
Model identified as “Miss Smith,” wearing a two-piece swim suit, photographed kneeling next to an architectural model of a beach city. The small-scale model maps neighborhoods (schools, housing, parks, streets), shopping districts, civic centers and recreational areas. Panels in the background diagram and textually describe amusement areas, civic and cultural centers, and recreation. Painting of Ruth St. Denis, modern dance pioneer, in Southeast Asian attire, (painting, 1912)

Description:
Ruth St. Denis was a modern dancer who incorporated eastern dance into her work. Walter Barron Currier was a Massachusetts-born painter, craftsman, illustrator, print maker and etcher. He moved to the Los Angeles area in 1913. Currier was the head of Lincoln High School's art department, and established the Currier Creative Art School in Santa Monica in 1926.

The tin toy, by Marx, is "Tidy Tim," identified by the inscription on trash bin, which also includes the inscriptions "D.S.C" and "Keep your City Spick & Span Says Tidy Tim the Clean-up Man" (seen online). Online examples of this toy are dated from 1933 into the 1950's.

Marshall Stone mansion, "The Magnolias," Valle Vista, Hemet

Description:
The home was owned by Marshall G. Stone, a Valle Vista pioneer considered to be the "Father of Valle Vista," having been superintendent over the development of 3,000 acres of a San Jacinto land grant. Stone was also one of the organizers of the Fairview Land & Water Company. The house was first a hotel, and was later occupied by Stone.
