The group is clustered together on an embankment, left-of-center. Keeper Hardy kneels at far left and looks to the camera. Keeper Hardy is in partial view along the left frame. He faces towards the right as he strings together a few ducks that lie on the ground to the right of him. Slightly behind and to the right of him, Frank Mellus kneels with his back towards the camera. The embankment recedes as it extends into the distance at an angle to the right. Ponds sit to either side of it. The opposite bank is visible in the distance.
