Mrs. Glab had been only recently convicted of forging the will of her late fiancee, wealthy manufacturer Albert Cheney, who died in Las Vegas before the two could be wed. John I. Glab was shot in the home he and Hazel Glab shared, on the evening of June 18, 1928. Mrs. Glab contested that her husband had been shot by her former lover, policeman W. R. McIntyre, and that she had been home listening to the radio with her niece the eve of the murder and had not heard the shot. Glab had been married to the pharmacist for only 16 months. Hahn and friend Clara Steeger, who falsely signed the will as a witness. Cheney died in a vegas hotel room the night before he was to wed Glab. The forgery charges were brought against Glab by Cheney's daughter Catherine Cheney Taylor.

Hammond with a hammer and Berbie Brockman attempted to poison her son-in-law. They are being escorted from the women's section of the County Jail to the Tehachapi Woman's Prison.
