Description:: Photograph of the former River Station depot for the Southern Pacific Railroad, viewed from the side, the day before its scheduled demolition. Sotello Street passes across the foreground on a slight angle. The old depot building stands in the near distance and is viewed at an angle from the side. The front of the building faces left and extends out-of-frame at right. A doorway faces camera and is tucked beneath an arch on the left. Two broken windows line the side of the building at right. The front of the building extends back into the image at left. It has an arcaded facade. An entablature stretches above it. North Spring Street (formerly San Fernando Road) stretches back into the image along the left edge. Down North Spring, an elevated walkway rises over the street and extends out-of-frame at left.

Day stands in the near distance at center and looks to the camera. Behind him, Shorb Station stands in the middle of the park. Patriotic decor covers the perimeter of the structure. Above the door on the near side, a sign reads, "SHORB." Two men stand on the right side of the station. The park extends into the background with trees and benches visible in the distance.
