View of the work on the B1/F4 wall of the Batterie Royale from the Batterie de la Reine
- Description:
- The Royal Battery, the Officers' Quarters and the Outbuildings of the Governor's Palace form a coherent whole and constitute the only sector of the Citadel where, in the absence of period documents (plans, engravings, construction logs.), the traces of the original state are in sufficient quantity and quality to allow a historically accurate reconstruction. The set is, overall, made up of two lean-to roofs which are joined back-to-back and separated by a powerful ridge wall (B1/F4); one of these roofs covers the entire La Batterie Royale, the terrace of which constitutes a barbette battery; the other roof covers the Officers' Quarters and the outbuildings, while ensuring the structural balance of the first slope.
