Description:
German Georg Rickertsen has come to Los Angeles to work on deals of expansion of products such as walnuts and dried fruits in relation to his country. Germany buys 31% of its dried fruits from California. While Rickertsen or his associate Miss Elly Bartels do not condone all of Hitler's policies they do not deny the decrease in their country's unemployment and does not suspect that Germany wants to go to war.

Dorothy Frooks tries to get involved in politics, Los Angeles, 1935

Description:
When Miss Frooks wrote to the First Lady and asked for her support for candidacy in running for Congress Frooks was met with the response that she 'take no part in local party politics', but not soon after Roosevelt supported Frooks' opponent Carolyn O'Day. She has established the free milk for babies in New York, attorney for the Salvation Army, and is soon releasing a book entitled "Over the Heads of Congress."

Description:
The incident that is credited to starting the 1965 Watts Riot involved Marquette and Ronald Frye who on August 11, 1965 were stopped by a police officer for erratic driving. While being questioned their mother, Rena arrived. At some point an altercation between the police and the three family members ensued which led to the arrest of all three. A crowd that had gathered and were angered by the treatment of the family began throwing bottles at the police.

Harold G. Ferguson outside courtroom, Los Angeles, 1935

Description:
At the time this photograph was taken, Harold G. Ferguson had served in San Quentin State Prison for the grand theft of investment funds in the 1929 sale of the Malibu La Costa beachfront properties--faciliated by his former real estate company the Harold G. Ferguson Corporation. After his release, Ferguson testified at this 1935 trial, in which the Malibu investors were ultimately denied the recovery of $443,000 from the Bank of America National Trust and Savings Association and the Marblehead Land Company, the third-party companies Ferguson used to broker the Malibu deals.

16-year-old Rosa Kiralla told the court that Lee R. Carr, father of her baby born last December, assaulted her in her home on multiple times, and after the baby was born with the help of Kiralla's mother and Carr's wife Mrs. Sarah Carr, Mr. Carr took the baby on the assertion that the baby was dead and the body needed to be disposed of.

ANSWER: Si, Senor, it is the old Pico House, the oldest hotel in Los Angeles and little pueblo's first three-story structure. Built in 1869, it was the sensation of its day -- had floors and bathtubs. It was named, of course, after Pio Pico, last Mexican Governor of California. Its location is now designated as the southeast corner of Plaza and N Main Sts. That big square shape at the extreme right in the photograph is, of course, the Federal Building, and , beyond it, the tower of the City Hall.

The caption reports that plants and trees for the landscaping were being provided by the estate of Letts deceased father (Holmby House in Los Feliz), who had an extensive garden of several acres in. The garden of his father's estate was destroyed in 1927 for development and rare plants also went to the Huntington Gardens.

The two investigating detectives go over the scene of the crime where Kelley hid inside the closet of the maid's room in the Mellus household after murdering Myrtle Mellus. One detective (standing) holds a pistol and grabs onto the back collar of the other detective (crouching) who appears to be reaching for something inside the closet. There are many bloody fingerprints, stains, and smudges on the closet door. Two Southern Pacific Railroad luggage tags from the trunks that held the bodies of murder victims Agnes Anne LeRoi and Hedvig Samuelson and were shipped by train from Phoenix to Los Angeles by Winnie Ruth Judd. Attached to each tag is a note dated 10/19 that reads "Before delivering see Mr. Anderson personally."
