George M. West's old shop (now Gray's), viewed from across the street, Red Oak, 1946
- Description:
- Photograph of George M. West's old shop (now Gray's) standing along East Washington Avenue in Red Oak, Iowa. The brick-paved East Washington Avenue stretches across the foreground on a slight angle. A tree trunk lines the left edge. On the far side of the street, Gray's Paint and Body Shop stands at center. It is viewed at an angle from the front. The building has a false-front facade. A large sign over a line of windows and garage door reads, "Complete WHEEL ALIGNMENT GLASS INSTALLED WHILE YOU WAIT GRAY'S PAINT AND BODY SHOP BEE B LINE FRAME & AXLE STRAIGHTENING EQUIPMENT." To the right of Gray's, a shorter, adjacent building extends to the right and out-of-frame. A taller building hovers over it at far right. To the left of and adjacent to Gray's, another false-front building stands. It disappears behind the tree trunk at left and extends out-of-frame. A sign in partial view reads, "[...] & SONS [...] [a]nd FEEDS."
