S. flag, enthroned before a sun medallion with the message "Palm Springs enjoys the Freedom of the Desert" and palm fronds at the base. The float platform is slip-covered in fabric with a printed scalloped hem and is towed by an automobile just visible in the lower left corner of the image.

This is a picture of its famous Olympic-size swimming pool that had five diving boards, an underwater window on the pool for use by photographers, and a pool observation platform. We can see a swimmer diving off one of the boards, as guests watch along the observation deck. In the background, we can see the most defining feature of the hotel, a pink Byzantine tower from which the hotel took its name — El Mirador — meaning "The Lookout."
