People swim in a pool at Verdugo Estates, Glendale, about 1930
- Description:
- Photograph of people swimming in a pool during a Masonic picnic in the Verdugo Estates area of Glendale. The swimming pool occupies the majority of the image. It is widest in the foreground and recedes back towards the left. A girl holds onto the pool's ledge along the right side of the image. Behind her and to the left, someone swims towards the pool's wall at right. Further along the pool's right edge, a few more swimmers hold onto the wall and others stand on the pool's deck; one appears to get ready to jump into the pool. At the far end of the pool, people splash in the water. A concrete wall stands on the far side of the pool and wraps around to the right, where it is stepped. A sign posted on the wall reads, "DIVING [FROM WALL?] PROHIBITED." Gardens extend from the right side of the wall and out of frame. A hillside rises in the distance at right.
