Description:: Written in the first quarter of the fifteenth century in England, perhaps in or for use in Kent (indicated by inclusion in the calendar of a feast commemorating the return of Thomas Becket from exile, a local commemoration). Signatures f. 39: “Thomas” inverted; f. 58: “John” and “For I am in love with her that me r—ith”; f. 76v: “Antony Lister” (s. XV), f. 79: “Houbande Lister” inverted. Pen trials on ff. 30v, 39, 79. Pencil note on f. ii: “Purchased from the Towneley Hall Library” (Towneley Hall, Lancashire). Dealers’ notes on f. iv: “VNW 138” and “A6”. Description:: Written in northern Italy in the last quarter of the thirteenth century. The opening words of the sermon on f. 183 — “Sicut dixi vobis hec mane” (As I said to you this morning …) — imply a community; observances for Saint Clare and Saint Antony of Padua, and the translation of Saint Francis with its indication that other feasts of Francis were observed (f. 285v), suggest a Franciscan origin. Purchased from Bernard Rosenthal, San Francisco in November 1985 by Richard and Mary Rouse. Given to UCLA in 2005.

Description:: Text in bolorgir, written in two columns of 21 lines each. Subtitles in red bolorgir, and initials in red erkat’agir.The original codex must have had at least 15 quires; currently, the last numbered quire has the number 15 written in the lower margin on fol. 146. Some complete quires suggest that the gatherings probably consisted of 12 leaves each. As is customary, the quires are numbered with the letters of the Armenian alphabet written in bolorgir in the lower margin of the page.

Each quire appears to have had gatherings of 12 leaves.
