From left to right:Francisco Guerra de Carpio with two men who were possibly law enforcement officials or military servicemen in Mexico.The photograph was taken in front of the Comisaria de Policia (Police Headquarters) in Naco, Sonora, Mexico. Mr. Guerra was an aduanero (border patrol official) for the Mexican government at the Naco Sonora border entry point. This photograph is believed to have been taken in close proximity to his workplace.

Constantino Adame

Tower Theatre, Compton, lounge, entry

Description:
Designed for a working class community in Los Angeles, the Tower Theater is a modest design which presents a stylish black and white Deco exterior (62701). The night view shows the effective use of neon and spotlighting to illuminate the fluted Moderne tower (62702). The box office is surrounded by circles of light bulbs on the lobby ceiling and a sunburst design on the lobbyýs terrazzo floor (62703). Poster cases are framed by scrolled pediments and simulated columns. The interior uses exaggerated columns, mirrors, white traditional-style furniture, and gilt to suggest a palatial elegance that is distant from the lives of the theatreýs clientele (62704-62705). Hanging lanterns and striped upholstery in the auditorium impart a subdued elegance (62706-62707).

Description:
Arturo Guerra standing in front of a car in Boyle Heights, CA.Mr. Guerra loved cars. However, he never actually learned how to drive. This photograph was taken in front of a family member's car.Also, Mr. Guerra's clothes are similar to that popularly referred to as a zoot suit. Interestingly, he always said that he thought zuit suits "looked sloppy."

Description:
The curved shapes, the treatment of the staircase, the poster cases, and the recessed lighting panels correspond closely to the rendering (40801). A focal point of the space is the mural of the Western hemisphere framed by the national flags and figures representing its peoples.(40813) Banquettes with mirrored walls above them, flank the auditorium entrance.

Ricardo's 5th birthday at Laguna Park

Description:
Laguna Park was later re-named Ruben Salazar Park after the L.A. Times journalist Ruben Salazar who was killed at the August 29, 1970 Chicano Moratorium. The Moratorium took place at Laguna Park and extended into the community of East Los Angeles. Rosalio, Maria Rosalia, and Ricardo all attended the Moratorium.

Description:
Rosalio Munoz (4 years old) is the small boy wearing shorts in the front of the photograpsh, Mercedes Gutierrez (cousin) is directly behind him, Ricardo Munoz (brother) is the young boy puckering his cheeks, Felix Gutierrez (cousing) is the boy wearing the cowboy sweater in the front of the picture, and at the far right in the front of the photograph is Maria Rosalia Munoz (sister) with her eyes closed. The photograph was taken at a Christmas party for children attending Sunday school at Asbury United Methodist Church. This church was one of the early Methodist churches to integrate in 1950s Los Angeles.

Description:
Inset map shows Reseda Boulevard intersecting with Sunset Boulevard. According to Los Angeles Times, March 20, 1998, "Crossroads of Confusion," a plan to extend Reseda to Sunset and the Santa Monica area began in the 1920s and was scrapped in 1977. Some city maps incorrectly show an intersection between Reseda and Sunset.
