In front of it stands a signpost, which reads, "MORNING GLORY POOL THIS FAR-FAMED POOL HAS EASILY WON ITS NAME FORM THE SYMMETRY AND DEPTH OF ITS CRATER AND THE BLUE COLOR OF THE WATER. THIS BLUE IS THE NORMAL COLOR OF LARGE BODIES OF WATER. THE MORE BRILLIANT HUES TO BE FOUND IN SMALLER QUANTITIES ARE DUE TO A LOW FORM OF PLANT LIFE. WHILE THE FAME OF THIS IS GREAT, IT NEVERTHELESS IS CONSIDERED BY MANY TO BE SURPASSED BY A NUMBER OF OTHER POOLS IN THE PARK, SOME OF WHICH ARE IN THIS GENERAL REGION."
