Un grito en la calle

Description:: SPANISH: Entrevista sobre la exposición titulada Un grito en la calle, lanzada con la colaboración del Grupo la Gárgola, el Sindicato 19 de septiembre y la Fundación Cultural Trabajadores de Pascual y del Arte. La cual buscó hacer converger en un mismo espacio los trabajos de artistas plásticos en torno a la lucha popular, la reivindicación por el derecho obrero y la situación de los grupos campesinos y las colonias populares. Comentan cómo surgió tanto el grupo Ojos de lucha y la Escuela de Cultura Popular Revolucionaria Mártires del 68, cuáles son sus objetivos y formas de financiamiento. Reflexionan sobre la línea que siguen como artistas, y en la que rechazan el individualismo sin sentido para apoyar el arte que no olvida la dimensión social y humana de toda creación. Se presenta la sección Noticiario obrero. Se presentan las piezas La soga, El huerto, Miseria seria y No tengo tiempo de cambiar mi vida. ENGLISH: Interview on the exhibition entitled "Un grito en la calle” (A shout in the street), launched with the collaboration of Grupo la Gárgola, the September 19th Union and the Fundación Cultural Trabajadores de Pascual y del Arte (Pascual and Art Workers Cultural Foundation). The aim was to bring together in the same space the works of plastic artists around the popular struggle, the vindication of workers' rights and the situation of peasant groups and popular neighborhoods. They comment on how the group Ojos de lucha and the Mártires del 68 School of Revolutionary Popular Culture came about, what their objectives are and how they are financed. They reflect on the line they follow as artists, and in which they reject meaningless individualism to support art that does not forget the social and human dimension of all creation. The section "Noticiario obrero” (Labor News) is presented. The pieces "La soga” (The rope), "El huerto" (The grove), "Miseria seria" (Serious misery) and "No tengo tiempo de cambiar mi vida" (I have no time to change my life) are presented.

Three prophecies of the Mohawk tradition are read and one of them is interpreted as a premonition of the North American Free Trade Agreement, NAFTA. Description:: SPANISH: Lectura de un cuento realizado por una trabajadora perteneciente a Juventud Obrera Católica. Entrevista sobre la labor de apoyar y promover en forma corresponsable la organización de las trabajadoras del servicio doméstico en la Ciudad de México. Se destaca que esta agrupación fue creada en 1987 por iniciativa de cinco mujeres feministas y que se convirtió en asociación civil el año 1992, teniendo como uno de sus mayores triunfos la creación del grupo Trabajadoras del Servicio Doméstico La Esperanza. Se denuncian las distintas problemáticas que enfrentan y comentan la propuesta de reforma a la Ley Federal del Trabajo que han elaborado para que se reconozcan los derechos laborales de éstas. Se presenta la sección Noticiario obrero, en la que se apuntan algunos acontecimientos relacionados con la situación del mundo laboral en el país. Se presentan las piezas Cuánto trabajo, Mire patrona y Simple obrera. ENGLISH: Reading of a story by a worker belonging to Juventud Obrera Católica (Catholic Workers' Youth). Interview on the work of supporting and promoting in a co-responsible way the organization of domestic service workers in Mexico City. It is noted that this group was created in 1987 by the initiative of five feminist women and became a civil association in 1992, having as one of its greatest triumphs the creation of the group Trabajadoras del Servicio Doméstico La Esperanza (Domestic Service Workers La Esperanza). They denounce the different problems they face and comment on the proposed reform to the Federal Labor Law that they have drafted to recognize their labor rights. Trabajadoras del servicio doméstico

Description:: SPANISH: Análisis sobre la situación laboral de las trabajadoras del servicio doméstico. Se mencionan la falta de leyes que protejan a las trabajadoras domésticas, la desvalorización de este trabajo, las largas jornadas de trabajo, y el abuso y desventajas a las que se enfrentan. Se comenta que las mujeres que desempeñan esta labor generalmente son analfabetas que llegan de provincia a la ciudad y esto les impide exigir el reconocimiento de su trabajo; así como sus derechos. Explican que en la Ley Federal del Trabajo se especifican las cosas a que tienen derecho las trabajadoras; por otra parte, las entrevistadas hacen notar el abuso laboral y sexual que padecen. El grupo Atabal, comenta sus funciones en el ámbito del derecho de las trabajadoras domésticas. Se presenta la pieza Simple obrera. ENGLISH: Analysis of the labor situation of domestic workers. Mention is made of the lack of laws to protect domestic workers, the devaluation of this work, the long working hours, and the abuse and disadvantages they face. It is commented that the women who perform this work are generally illiterate and come from the countryside to the city, and this prevents them from demanding recognition for their work, as well as their rights. They explain that the Federal Labor Law specifies what women workers are entitled to; on the other hand, the interviewees point out the labor and sexual abuse they suffer. The Atabal Group comments on their role in the area of domestic workers' rights. The piece "Simple obrera” (Just a worker) is presented.

The life of Domingo Jiménez Aruquipa - interview, with a sung kullwa - 115

Description:: SPANISH: Domingo Jiménez Aruquipa es entrevistado por Juan de Dios Yapita y Denise Y. Arnold de los siguientes temas: 1. Una piedra en miniatura (illa) de un zorro (anathuya illa) relacionada con Dios. La ropa no tiene illa, pero sí, la rueca (qapu) y las tejedoras a mano denominado la joven tejedora (sawu tawaqu) que son halladas en los cerros (qullunaka) y a plena vista (qhanankiwa). 2. Sobre los nudos (chinu). Según él, hay nudos machos (urqu chinu) y nudos hembras (qachu chinu) que se diferencian entre sí. Los llamados chinu en los textiles (sawu chinu) son las vueltas de los hilos de urdimbre en el telar y definen la cantidad de capas de urdido, en especial cuando hay diseños (salta). Los nudos en los rebaños (uywa chinu) traen suerte y se debe hacer libaciones (ch’alla) para ellos. Estos nudos son los aretes de los animales, elaborados con hilo de color que debe incluir siempre hilos rojos (wila ch’ankha) e hilos verdes (ch’uxña) que expresa el pasto y todos los alimentos. Hay colores que son de mala suerte, por ejemplo, el negro (ch’iyara), el morado (muratu), celeste y azul oscuro (larama). De buena suerte son el blanco (janq’u), verde, rojo y amarillo (q’illu) que son usados en matrimonios (paris paluma). 3. La sangre también es qama, aunque la menstruación de animales no es igual que de la gente. 4. Habla de la reproducción de los animales y la fertilidad en las llamas (qarwa), ovejas y vacas. Y habla de los pájaros (jamach’i) que dan su nombre a los animales de rebaño según el color. Cada uno de los animales tiene su propio espíritu. 5. La illa da (churiri), coloca (uskuri) y la Madre (Tayka) o Pachamama la recibe (katuqiri). Ella, a través de las nubes, brinda semilla para la producción con la lluvia (jallu). 6. Don Domingo entona un canto de kullwa que trae suerte en todo y que se cantaban en el Tiempo de los Incas. ENGLISH: Domingo Jiménez Aruquipa is interviewed by Juan de Dios Yapita and Denise Y. Sierra náhuatl de Zongolica, parte 1… y otros

Description:: SPANISH: Se menciona que Eulogio Tepole quien es un anciano de mayor rango del municipio Texhuacán, Sierra náhuatl de Zongolica, Veracruz, tiene injerencia su poder en el municipio como en la iglesia, además, se alude a qué se dedica a la producción de carbón. Tepole enuncia las responsabilidades de su cargo y emite unas palabras en náhuatl y en español cuando entrega a la autoridad municipal la vara de mando. Tepole también realiza el pedimento a la madre tierra para las siembras llamado Xochitlalli, organiza los trabajos de todas las mayordomías en las fiestas y cuando los miembros del ayuntamiento dejan de tener autoridad para convocar a las faenas o trabajos colectivos él convoca y así acuden los comuneros. Se presenta un mensaje de una mujer zongolica llamada Rosalba Tepole a los jóvenes indígenas, en el cual aborda el tema de la censura y opresión a las tradiciones, creencias y costumbres de los indígenas, además, hace un llamado a los indígenas y mexicanos a sentirse orgullosos de sus culturas y raíces. Se menciona acerca de los hacendados y de las faenas o trabajos colectivos en los pueblos y comunidades de la sierra náhuatl de Zongolica, Veracruz. Amancio Acatecatl, quien es presidente de la Unión de Ejidos de Tlanecpaquila, Cotlaixco, Ruiz Cortines y Poxcautla, comenta su testimonio acerca de las faenas que realizaba y los castigos que recibían por parte de los hacendados si se negaban. Se enuncia la lucha contra los hacendados en la revolución agrarista de 1910. Entre ellos se menciona que la cumbre no hará pública la Declaración de los Derechos Indígenas sin antes avisar a los líderes y organizaciones mencionados en ella. También se plantea que haya más participación de otras organizaciones indígenas. Al final del evento, Rigoberta Menchú invita a los periodistas a la clausura de la cumbre, que se realizará al día siguiente en la Fundación Vicente Menchú de la Ciudad de México. Segunda Reunión Cumbre de Pueblos Indígenas, parte 1

Description:: SPANISH: Entrevista a Margarito, comisionado ejidal de San Andrés Cholula, quien menciona el despojo a su comunidad de 756 hectáreas de terreno, el cual fue utilizado para la construcción de la Universidad Iberoamericana y un hospital infantil. Denuncia que el gobierno ofrece a los dueños una indemnización mínima a cambio de estos terrenos. Genoveva Sánchez Sánchez, secretaria de organización de la Federación Independiente de Obreros Agrícolas y Campesinos, FIOAC, comenta que en San Salvador Chachapa tienen una Cédula Real que acredita a la comunidad como dueña de 6550 hectáreas, pero 756 de ellas han sido usurpadas por los dueños de la Hacienda San Bartolo Flor del Bosque desde 1949. Esto ha llevado a la comunidad a resistir y sufrir el asesinato de trece campesinos. Continúa el testimonio de Doroteo Fernández Lara, secretario general de la FIOAC, quien explica que la modificación al artículo 27, promovida por el presidente Carlos Salinas de Gortari, ha ido en contra de los campesinos, pues los despoja de sus tierras y las otorga a empresas transnacionales. En Conference, Rigoberta Menchú expresa su rechazo al Plan de Paz para Guatemala, propuesto por el presidente Ramiro De León, ya que no consideró a los sectores indígenas y sociales para la elaboración de dicho documento. Description:: SPANISH: Rigoberta Menchú comenta y analiza la Carta de Derechos de las Poblaciones Indígenas, la cual estipula la autonomía y autodeterminación de los pueblos indígenas y aceptación de su idioma, no como dialecto. Esta carta también alude a los derechos de territorio, a los acuerdos de participación de los indígenas en el servicio militar de su nación, entre otros conceptos. Menchú menciona los obstáculos que ha tenido la aprobación de esta Carta por parte de los gobiernos de América latina. Se refiere al paralelismo entre la lucha de las mujeres y la lucha de los pueblos indios. Rigoberta Menchú da lectura a su poema Patria abnegada, el cual sintetiza su sentir y su experiencia de haber perdido a sus familiares más cercanos, su persecución, su exilio y la incertidumbre de su pueblo maya. Se presentan las reflexiones de Rigoberta Menchú en torno al devenir de los pueblos indios, su relación con los elementos de tradición y las formas propias de organización política que se necesitan implementar. Se enuncia cómo deben ser las formas de organización política de la comunidad indígena del Ecuador, las cuales indican deberá tener un parlamento indígena, además, pugnan por la creación de sus propias leyes, sus propios programas de superación y desarrollo, en los que no debe intervenir el gobierno nacional. Se enuncia que la Confederación de Nacionalidades Indígenas del Ecuador (CONAIE) realizó en abril de 1992 una marcha, la cual logró el reconocimiento de un territorio indígena de 16 millones de hectáreas. Menchú comenta las razones por las que los pueblos indios del continente americano han recurrido a la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU), en específico a las reuniones de grupos de trabajo sobre poblaciones indígenas con sede en Ginebra, Suiza para denunciar la situación que viven los pueblos y proponer una Carta de Derechos de las Poblaciones Indígenas, la cual se espera sea aprobada en 1992. Rigoberta Menchú da lectura a su poema Patria abnegada, el cual sintetiza su sentir y su experiencia de haber perdido a sus familiares más cercanos, su persecución, su exilio y la incertidumbre de su pueblo maya. Rigoberta Menchú menciona la importancia para los pueblos indios la conexión entre la naturaleza y los humanos. Se enuncia las enseñanzas ancestrales que dejaron nuestros pueblos indígenas. Menchú comenta las oraciones y palabras que se le dicen a la Madre Tierra antes de sembrar en ella y hace una reflexión sobre el pensamiento de los pueblos indios de América en torno a la naturaleza. Se menciona que para los pueblos indios de América todos los elementos que componen la naturaleza tienen un valor incalculable, en los pueblos mayas, se alude al caso del cazador que fue castigado porque no pedía permiso al señor del monte para cazar. Rigoberta Menchú comenta cómo los elementos de la naturaleza tienen relación e impacto con las acciones de la sociedad. En la sociedad indígena maya a los abuelos se les tiene en gran estima, cuando se dice los abuelos se habla de todas las generaciones anteriores. Menchú refiere al respeto que se debe tener a la naturaleza y alude a los abusos que han sufrido las tierras de los pueblos indígenas. Menchú comments on the Cuauhtemoc Slogan and the similarities that this slogan has with the Popol Vuh. The periods marked by the Mayan Calendar are mentioned. Comments on the 500 years of resistance of indigenous peoples to foreign oppressionare made. Menchú has suffered exile from his country, death threats, however, she has attended talks on indigenous populations at the United Nations and has been an advocate for the rights of native peoples. In 1991 she returned to her homeland and worked in the coordination of the Continental Campaign 500 years of Indian, Black and Popular Resistance. Some reflections of Rigoberta Menchú are presented, in which she addresses the issue of the situation of the indigenous Mayans in a context of civil war, where massacres, murders, discrimination and oppression prevail. Qaqachaka war of the ayllus - interview with Enrique Espejo Sepera - 006

Description:: SPANISH: Enrique Espejo Sepera describe a Juan de Dios Yapita y Denise Y. Arnold cómo las peleas (nuwasi) con Jukumani siempre se han dado antes de que el naciera. Comenta que el vio la guerra entre jukumanis y pocoatas, posteriormente se dio el enfrentamiento entre los laymis y los pocoatas. Cuenta que la pelea entre jukumanis y pocoatas duró aproximadamente 5 años. Explica que han intervenido para apaciguar estas peleas las autoridades (jilirinaka), pero luego empezaron los enfrentamientos entre laymis y qaqachakas que duro unos 3 años. Luego empezó la pelea entre los laymis y jukumanis, que aún sigue persistiendo. Los enfrentamientos se dan hasta dejar muchos muertos. Durante las peleas se prepara alimentos y por eso se sacrificaban entre 10 a 15 llamas (qarwa). A partir de la revolución de 1952, se incorporaron en los enfrentamientos los fusiles. Estos fueron conseguidos al ingresar en los cuarteles. Antes de esto se azotaban (jawq’ajaña) con chicotes. Comenta que los militares vienen a pacificar, pero las peleas aumentan (juk’ampi) a pesar de que los arrestan a los jukumanis, ellos siguen enfrentándose. Explica que la contienda siempre ha sido por usurpación de terrenos (uraqi). La población disminuye durante estas peleas, pero solicitan a los Milagros tener más hijos varones (yuqalla) para que participen en los enfrentamientos cuando crezcan. Los lindes entre Jukumani y Qaqachaka son Kiruyas, Chiriyachi, y Kullaka. Las mujeres no participan en el enfrentamiento, pero ellas se encargan de llevar las meriendas. ENGLISH: Enrique Espejo Sepera describes to Juan de Dios Yapita and Denise Y. Arnold how the fights (nuwasi) with the Jukumanis have always occurred, even before he was born. He comments that he saw fights between the Jukumanis and the Pocoatas, and later on there was the confrontation between the Laymis and the Pocoatas, which lasted about 5 years. He explains that the authorities (jilirinaka) have intervened to try to calm these fights, but then the confrontations began again, this time between the Laymis and the Qaqachakas that lasted about 3 years. Following this there was the fight between the Laymis and the Jukumanis again, which is still going on. The clashes continue to leave many dead. During the fights food has to be prepared, and so between 10 to 15 llamas (qarwa) were sacrificed. Starting with the 1952 revolution, rifles were incorporated into the clashes. These were obtained by entering the regional barracks. Before this the men were just lashed (jawq'ajaña) with whips. He comments that the military come to pacify the battles, but the fights increase (juk'ampi); despite the fact that the Jukumanis are arrested, they continue to fight. He explains that the dispute has always been over the usurpation of land (uraqi). The population decreases during these fights, but then couples request the regional miraculous sites to have more sons (yuqalla) so that they can participate in the confrontations when they grow up. The boundaries between the Jukumanis and Qaqachaka are Kiruyas, Chiriyachi, and Kullaka, and these are dangerous places. The women do not participate in the confrontation, but they are in charge of bringing snacks.

Entre las figuras menciona el pie del perro (anu kayu), que tiene un significado de dejar huellas. Otro sería la cucharita y la denominada separación en 'V' (jalja o pallqa). Menciona la parte llana denominada madre (tayka) y los diseños en damero de peinecillos (k’uthu). Los diseños dependen de la cantidad de vueltas de los hilos de urdimbre (chinu) y así de las capas de urdido en el telar. Otro diseño es de las hojas (laphi) de verbena (sallawayu). La figura del arbusto tipa se usa a menudo en los tejidos: las mujeres lo usan en la fajita (t’isnu), en la manta femenina o awayu, y en las cintas de sombrero. La lista ancha (qutu) es otro diseño. Among the figures, he mentions the dog's foot (anu kayu), which means to leave footprints. Another would be the spoon, and the division or separation in a forked form (jalja o pallqa). He describes the design area, called the mother (tayka) and the checkerboard designs called multiple ladders (k'uthu). These designs depend on the quantity of warp loops (chinu) and hence warp layers on the loom. Another design is one of the leaves (laphi) of vervain (sallawayu). Description:: SPANISH: Mauricia Mamani habla con Juan de Dios Yapita y Denise Y. Arnold sobre cuatro temas relacionados a los cuerpos de las mujeres y sus experiencias: 1. Cómo se debe cuidar a las guaguas recién nacidas de las enfermedades. Dentro de sus costumbres, se suele amarrar un haba grande en su gorra (lluch’u) y también el hocico seco de un chancho, lo que ahuyenta las enfermedades. Cuando cumplen dos años, se les coloca una faja amarrada con una cinta (t’isnu) para que no les crezca el estómago (puraka). También les colocan a los niños en la rodilla grasa de ñandu (suri liq’i) para que pueda caminar mejor. Les dan de comer pito con agua (chapu) para que tengan fuerza. 2. Sobre el matrimonio. Antes se casaban a una edad madura y tenían pocos hijos; en la actualidad se casan muy jóvenes e inmaduros (llullu) y llegan a tener varios hijos. 3. Arnold sobre las parteras (qaquri) de la región que ayudan a parir a las mujeres embarazadas (usuri) y sus procedimientos. Ellas aplican una técnica del masaje para corregir la posición del feto en el útero y para que nazca la guagua más fácilmente. Antes de dar a luz les dan a beber a la mujer un mate caliente del arbusto medicinal chachacoma para ayudar al nacimiento, luego la partera procede a masajearla. La mujer que ha parido ya descansa por un mes y durante este tiempo deben comer papa deshidratada (ch'uñu phuti) y carne de oveja para recuperar fuerzas. Cuenta que en Qaqachaka las parteras son en su mayoría mujeres. La más conocida es Asunta Colque, pero hay un varón Domingo Choque. Hay mujeres que tienen dificultades para dar a luz y sufren varios días. En estos casos se unen varías parteras para masajearle en la cabeza, la cintura y los pies.
