Punjabi asks multiple questions on life and performance experiences of Ugamraj Khiladi. Khiladi shares multiple anecdotes from his life including memories from childhood and his initiation into the form of Khyal. Punjabi also questions about a Khyal play based on the life of saint poet Meera. Khyal is a musical theatre tradition of Rajasthan which includes crossdressing by male actors as female actors are not allowed. Ugamraj was famous for impersonating queens in Khyal plays and iconic female characters like Meera.

Description:: Recording of Meera and Kabir Bhajans sung by musicians of the Manganiar community with Kamaicha, Sindhi Sarangi and Dholak accompaniment. Bhajan are devotional songs addressed to a particular deity or to God or a divinity in general. Kabir Bhajans are mostly Nirgun Bhajans which are spiritual songs, not addressed to a particular deity, but are more spiritual and philosophical in nature. Meera Bhajans are mostly addressed to Krishna or in some cases, to Rama. After every track in this recording, the singer recites the lyrics of the song. The audio of this tape is muffled and party inaudible.

Towards the end, the tape contains a short recording of 'Meera ri Janampatri, sung and narrated by a male singer.

Description:: Field recordings of the ritual narrative tradition of 'Ambav Bharat' at Undri village in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The ritual performance consists of narrating the story of Amba Mata, the female deity, with Dhak and Thali accompaniment. Amba is a female deity whose narrative is sung and performed during the Gavri festival in eastern Rajasthan. Most devotees of Amba mata and Gavri are members of the Bhil community of Rajasthan.1. An episode from the narrative tradition of 'Ambav Bharat', dedicated to the female deity of Ambav. This is the concluding episode of the ballad. It consists of the resolution of a misunderstanding between devi Ambav, the central deity of the ballad and the King. As a result several gods and goddesses descend to earth. The gods and goddesses are welcomed by the king, who also throws them a feast. The episode is sung and narrated by a group of male singers with Dhak and Thali accompaniment. The narration alternates between sung verse known as 'Gav', and spoken elaboration known as 'Arthav'. 2. A 'Dev stuti', or a prayer to several gods and goddesses sung as part of the ritual narrative 'Ambav Bharat', by a group of men with Dhak and Thali accompaniment.
