Description:: Main entrance to Ketchaoua Mosque in Algiers. At the entrance, 29 steps lead up to a marble portico, with an octagonal minaret on each side (though only one is visible here). The Mosque is located at the foot of the Casbah, facing the Mediterranean Sea. Between 1845 and 1962, under French rule, the Mosque was converted into the Cathedral of St. Philippe, but was then converted back.
