Description:
Report of the arrest of the Captain of Detectives, Herman Cline. He was arrested for a hit and run while drunk which resulted in the death of a woman and child. Cline was involved in spearheading the case against Aimee Semple McPherson that charged her with faking her own kidnapping previously to this horrific event. Cline tried to outrun police after striking the car, but to no avail and was arrested in Azusa.

Typescript reads: "Must we destroy 200 acres of cotton like this?" ask Mr. and Mrs. A.G. (Gus) Busby. The San Joaquin Valley cotton planter, pictured above with his wife and youngest son, (Eugene) Gene, has his life savings invested in a $14,000 cotton crop ready to be picked. Busby has fallen under the lash of the New Deal's Agricultural Adjustment Administration's cotton curtailment program. [words crossed out] A.G. Description:
Press release: Ch[eck Your] Credit*, "P & A Photos" 5011 (Los Angeles Bureau). Air Commander See Finish of Trans-Continental Race. Major General James E. Fechet, Chief of the Army Air Service arrived in Los Angles in time to see the finish of the Trans-Continental non stop flight, as the feature event of the National Aeronautical Exposition. Gen. Fechet said that an investigation would be made into the accident at Mines Field, in which Lt. J. J. Williams of the Army's "Three Musketeers" was fatally injured while stunting. Official letter from U.S. Dept. of Agriculture to A. G. Busby concerning cotton field, Fresno, 1935

Description:
Photograph is image of letter, dated October 22, 1935, with official letterhead from the "United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Adjustment Administration." The letter is addressed to cotton farmer, A.G. Busby, called Gus Busby in the related article. Busby's whole name was most likely, "Adam Gusty Busby," and was nicknamed "Gus". Less frequently under other records, he's been recorded as "Gusty A. Busby" as well. The article details how the federal New Deal rulings of the Franklin D. Roosevelt administration have overreached, and possibly ruined Busby's livelihood as a cotton farmer. According to the story, the federal government discovered Busby leased a large portion of land he was not allowed to lease, and ordered him to plow most of his crop. The tone of the column is that of anti-big government and regulation. The pictured letter is the federal correspondence which informs him of not complying with his "contract."

Text reads: Matson Line, August 21, 1935. Los Angeles. Fire Chief R. J. Scott of Los Angeles, eager for the long voyage to Australia as a first class rest and sightseeing tour, left his home town accompanied by Mrs. Scott on the liner Monterey recently to be away for some sox weeks. "It's our first vacation on the Pacific," they said.
