The monograph describes the impact of the violence exercised by the State and power groups against K'iche communities during the Internal Armed Conflict. It summarizes the political, economic and social context prior to the violence. It analyzes the role of different institutions and social organizations in the region, such as the Committee for Peasant Unity and the Church. Subsequently, it studies the impact of the guerrilla struggle on the community, their relationship with the communities, their strategies and responsibility in the repression. The monograph addresses complex issues, such as ethnic contradictions and the role of women in the revolutionary movement. Finally, it summarizes the mechanisms of repression and genocide of the K'iche people, as part of the State's counterinsurgency policies.
