The National Historical Park, covering a geographical area of 22 km2, includes the monumental complex of the Sans Souci Palace, of the Citadel and the Ramiers Fortified Site, is the subject of a joint UNESCO and Haitian Government project represented by the National Heritage Preservation Institute (ISPAN). An extension of the PUD/UNESCO project (HAI 29.011) which began in 1979 is planned until 1985, thus ensuring the maintenance of the consultants as well as the acquisition of materials and basic equipment required for the preservation of the monuments: Citadelle, Palais Sans Souci and fortified site of Les Ramiers, In conjunction with these works, the development of the National Historic Park will be carried out, encompassing the monumental zone.
