- Photograph of workers retrieving Calvin Darling from a pit that caved in on him. Two men are seen standing at opposite sides of the pit, with Darling seen at center. Two signs from the gasoline service station provide a buttress against loose earth surrounding the pit. One sign reads: "Vales Ground 75 [cents] per cyl." Darling was working on completion of a storage tank pit at the service station when the incident occurred.
