Description:
Letter from Gaynelle Greene (wife of Al Green, Chairman of the Allensworth Advisory Committee) to Ida Berk. Ms. Green congratulates Ms. Berk on her appointment to the California Parks and Recreation Commission. Ms. Green refers to the letter from Mr. Robinson (Commissioner, State Parks) to Mr. Lasartemay (President of the East Bay Historical Society, and member of the subcommittee of the Allensworth Advisory Committee), urging against establishing Colonel Allensworth State Park at the historical site of Allensworth town, and recommending creating a park in an urban location instead. She states that the Allensworth Advisory Committee considers this letter, and other letters, to be an attempt to divide the members of the committee. She requests Ms. Berk to support the plan presented at the May 14th meeting.

Mr. and Mrs. Green are asking Ms. Height to write to Director Herbert Rhodes, California State Historic Parks & Recreation, urging him to move forward with the restoration and development of Allenstown State Park.

He tells her about the history of opposition to having the park in its historic location (Allensworth town), and the attempt to move it to an urban area. Letter from Arthur M. Robinson, Commissioner, State Parks, to Eugene P. Lasartemay, President of the East Bay Historical Society and member of the subcommittee of the Allensworth Advisory Committee, about a public hearing to be held by the State Parks and Recreation Commission about the general development plan and resource management for the Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park to take place on May 14, 1976. Robinson expresses his view that this should not become a large expensive historic park. He suggests that a commemorative park for Allensworth be established in Los Angeles.

Letter from Eugene P. Lasartemay, President of the East Bay Historical Society, and member of the subcommittee of the Allensworth Advisory Committee, to Arthur M. Robinson, Commissioner, State Parks. Mr. Lasartemay tells Mr. Robinson that he feels that a park commemorating the contribution of Colonel Allensworth should not be in Los Angeles, but in Allensworth, "where Col. Allensworth envisioned, intellectually formulated and founded as a sanctuary for an aggrieved people." He provides the addresses of other organizations that Mr. Allensworth can contact to gain a wider collection of opinions

Photograph of a typescript letter from Albert F. Coyle, Acting Editor and Publicity Manager for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Journal to Friend W. Richardson, Governor of California. The letter is dated December 15, 1926. Albert F. Coyle writes to request a Christmas-time pardon for James B. McNamara from San Quentin prison. McNamara and others were responsible for the Los Angeles Times bombing in 1910.

Letter from L. L. Levings to E. R. Thomas, 1933

Description:
In July 1935, Robert E. Thomas, an actor, claimed that he was the cast-off son of May Yohe and Putnam Bradley Strong, who was wealthy and socially prominent. Thomas had been adopted by E. R. Thomas, an apartment manager in Hollywood. In this letter, the writer, L. L. Levings, writing from Portland, Oregon, states that he has documenting that a wife of Strong had a child on September 1, 1908 and was divorced on April 25, 1910.

Description:
Letter was written to Larceny Bill. Marty Rosen appeared to be involved in some nefarious people and dealings. He discussed his plans to possibly come back to Brooklyn. In the letter he stated: "Did you find out of he went to his brother? If he did, then fuck him anyway with his brother, because if I am back in ... in another week or so, I'll just have to walk up to his brother's office with my rat-a-tat-tat and mow them all down, you know me bill Im built that way ---- on pencial & paper only-ha !ha!"

Description:
Letter written by Jaime Palmer, 6855 Bonita Terrace, Hollywood, CA on October 7, 1936. The recipient is unidentified. She expresses her appreciation for an invitation from Harry Kohr to assume the chairmanship for the women's luncheon committee of The Authors club. Palmer was involved with the Writers Club of Hollywood in the 1930s. Harry Kohr was an exchange editor, telegraph editor and literary editor with the Kansas City Star newspaper. He retired in 1932 and lived in Los Angeles after that, returning to editorial work during WWII.

Description:
A letter from John Anson Ford the the Editor of the Los Angeles Times, offering corrections regarding an article that appeared in the Times on September 9, 1936. Anson had just been elected chairman of the Democratic County Central Committee and writes that the article, in referring to him as an Epic candidate, was incorrect. He states that he was not endorsed by the Epics, and that he has no plans to run for mayor, concluding "there are people who assume public office, or other public position, for the purpose of sincerely rendering service, and without ulterior purposes.
