The Inglewood Post's float in the annual state parade of the American Legion, during which veterans of the first World War took to the streets of Los Angeles en masse along with bands, floats, drum and bugle corps. Nearly a quarter of a million people participated in the march. The Inglewood Post's float attracted particular attention for its large floral representation of the American Legion's insignia, center.

The Pasadena Memorial Flagpole (Goodhue Flagpole) is visible behind the float in its original location in the middle of the intersection of Orange Grove and Colorado Boulevard. A parade float from the Womens Social Welfare Department (possibly of Los Angeles City, but more likely a unit within the Salvation Army; unconfirmed) cruises along the street, with nurses and toddlers seated inside. In the background, some city buildings are seen, and notably the foundations of a new building. Spectators and pedestrians are also seen. A car is parked across the road. Salvation Army General Evangeline Booth and her Army membership were in Los Angeles for a Salvation Army parade, and met in congress to discuss their World for God campaign in which they hoped to add a million more members. Mayor Frank Shaw and many Los Angeles citizens welcomed them to the city.

Description:
A parade float passes by the camera while taking part in the parade celebrating the dedication of the opening of Vermont Avenue and Cabrillo Beach. The float is viewed from a low-angle perspective and at an angle from the side. It appears to move towards the right. Atop the float, four men occupy a rowboat. Two men sit in the middle of the boat and look to the camera. The rightmost man stands towards the boat's bow and holds a flag. The man furthest from camera stands at the back of the boat. He dons a helmet and holds a flag as well. Foliage is draped over the side of the boat and on the float's platform. Three large bobbers sit on the platform alongside the boat. A skirt hanging down from the side of the float reads, "CABRILLO INVITES YOU TO CABRILLO B[EACH] DEPT OF [PLAY...]."

The float of the Rose Parade Queen, Muriel Cowan, features a large Russian Firebird composed of yellow chrysanthemums and lavender sweet peas at the front and three Russian mosques with domes covered in yellow pompoms at the back, behind the queen's throne. "Boys' Week" was first held in New York City in 1920. By the mid 1920's it was held in 600 locations in 25 countries. By 1928 there were 3,000 events. In 1934 Boys’ Week officially be-came known as Youth Week. In 1936 it was renamed Boys’ and Girls’ Week. One of the features of Boys' Week was to have High School boys accompany adults around businesses, municipal offices and the like and then actually run them on the last day.
